  1. The leg of a beast. If couped or erased at the middle joint, it is a paw.
  2. The whole foreleg of a lion or other beast. If couped or erased near the middle joint it is called a paw.

  1. Said of the comb or gills of a cock or cockatrice, when of a different tincture from his body.
  2. Said of the comb and gills of the cock when of a different color from the body.

  2. Springing up or shooting forth, as a plant. Also applied to an animal, in the same sense as issuant.
